Welcome to our home on the Web. The Founders of The Group Inc. of Calhoun Ga. has published this website to keep you informed on their plans to help troubled young people and accomplishments. William W. “Deacon” Balliew formally the Director of an Internationally recognizes organization known as The Winners Club Inc. has been appointed the Director of The Group Inc. This site will also be publishing some of the remarkable accomplishments that were attained by young people that faced personal, physical, and mental and behavioral challenges while under the direction of Deacon Balliew and his volunteers. Deacon and his late wife Inez who died in 1999 founded The Winners Club in 1968 that was to become known world wide. Back then, he was a Juvenile probation officer, and began to see first hand the direction many children were heading. First starting out as a Boy and Girl Scout troop of mentally limited girls and boys, however to meet growing demands of the troubled children he was seeing, the organization expanded and began to work with troubled children also and became The Winners Club. The Club consisted of members aged 4 to 55, and the challenges they faced were as diverse as their ages. Some battled birth defects, others were children of society, a term we use to describe those with family, personal, and behavioral problems and those that had been abused. After 37 years he retired as the director of the Winners Club and with a group of friends formed this organization. The Group Inc. is tax-exempt and supported only by private donations and contributions. These contributions are overseen by The Groups appointed board of Directors. Deacon said as Director of The group inc. he will continue with Gods help stay on the same mission he placed us on years ago, and that mission is to try to help the less fortunate young people and their families. And thanks to him and our community we have seen what has been described by some as Miracles. We pray he will continue to bless and direct as we continue the mission he has placed us on.
